Western
Nevada County
lies in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains
at an average elevation of 2500 feet. Terrain
ranges from rolling hills to rugged peaks, generally
above the fog and below the snow, enjoying four
distinct seasons. Plentiful forests of oak,
pine, cedar and fir grace the area crested by
blue skies. Residents pride themselves on their
history, celebrating with landmarks and events.
In addition, they enjoy locally produced, but
widely acknowledged music festivals and theatrical
productions.
Eastern
Nevada County
is nestled in the Sierra Nevadas at an average
elevation of 6000 feet, in a dynamic recreation
area. The majestic setting provides opportunities
to spend summers camping, fishing and hiking,
and winters enjoying sports such as alpine and
cross-country skiing at many nearby resorts.
Many seasonal events attract sportsmen, vacationers
and second home residents. Truckee—an
historic railroad center—oversees the
region providing business, transportation and
services.
