Sally grew up in Pennsylvania, near a small farming community. Her parents owned a dairy farm with 80 milking cows, 20,000 laying hens and an assortment of dogs, cats, ponies, horses, sheep and beef cows. Her earliest memory, age two, is riding in the saddle with her Dad moving sheep from one farm to the other. She was in 4-H for many years raising beef and dairy cows, but especially horses.
Sally’s maternal grandparents had a successful sporting goods store, “Aurand’s For Sports”. When Papa came back from WWII, he started out selling sporting goods on a postcard. This business grew over the years into a large wholesale/retail sporting goods store. Sally went to work at Papa and Gram’s store at age 9, putting together printed mail-order catalogs. While there, she learned advertising, sales, accounting, warehousing, manufacturing, and customer service. She wrote classified ads and decorated the store windows. She sold fishing, hunting and camping supplies. Sally learned to love the outdoors and to fish with her Papa.
You might say Sally has been in agriculture and business her whole life.
Sally graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Major in Nursing and a Minor in Art and Graphic Design. She owned and operated several businesses over the years and has lived primarily in Nevada County since 1998. That year, Sally bought her first fixer-upper as a single mom, in Truckee, with a special financing program.
Several years later, Sally met her second husband, Dan, a native Californian. Dan has over 30 years in the construction trade. Together, Sally and Dan, have renovated and sold several fixer-uppers. They do most of the repairs and updates themselves, and Sally has learned much about construction. Sally manages her own rental property as well.
Whether you are a first-time buyer, or looking for a fixer-upper, residential or agricultural property, Sally can help you find a great place to call HOME.
